The blast that destroyed Chief Inspector Alexander Haller’s sight also claimed the life of the woman he loved. Now retired from the Vienna police force, Haller lives with the terrible burden of knowing that the bomb was meant for him, and him alone. But when the man convicted of the attack escapes from prison in order to prove his innocence, Haller has no choice but to investigate the case all over again. The difference this time is that he has no police authority, the new Chief Inspector is trying to stop him, and he has lost his sight.
To solve this case, Haller will need to get unconventional. Teaming up with a streetwise Berlin taxi driver, Haller’s investigation leads him to a brutal sex-trafficking ring. These are dangerous criminals, but the blind detective has one major advantage: the people he’s hunting underestimate him. One way or another, Haller will see this through to the end.
Former Vienna chief inspector Alexander Haller (Philipp Hochmair) carries a heavy emotional burden: he blames himself for the death of his partner, the prosecutor Kara Hoffmann (Anna Rot), who was killed in an explosive attack two years ago. He cannot get over the terrible assassination attempt, in which Haller lost his eyesight and thus also his job. One night at the last minute, taxi driver Nikolai Falk (Andreas Guenther) prevents Haller from taking his life out of desperation.
Udo Strasser (Stipe Erceg), who was convicted of Kara's murder, creates a new meaning. Haller's arch enemy has broken out to prove his innocence. That the blind ex-commissioner - supported by Nikolai as a driver - now determines himself displeases his successor Laura Janda (Jaschka Lämmert) as well as his former boss Pohl (Johannes Silberschneider).
Soon Haller not only comes across the track of a brutal girl dealer ring, which a young Belarusian (Barbara Prakopenka) has escaped, but also strangely in the police work. His disadvantage of not being able to see is beginning to turn Haller into an advantage: his opponents underestimate him. Using unconventional means, he tries to hold the perpetrators and the heads of the criminal gangs accountable.
