HIS TEACHER follows a French Muslim woman (Cesar-winner HafsiaHerzi) as she travels to New York City to visit her childhood best friend from the rough neighborhoods outside of Paris. When the reunion proves disastrous, Hafsia steals her friend's credit card and identity, and disappears to a remote cabin upstate. Deep in the woods and alone for the first time in her life, she experiences a divine revelation of an existence without borders. But when she discovers that she's not alone on the property, Hafsia's sojourn in nature gradually descends into a terrifying study of the intolerance and suspicion she encounters and reflects back to an Islamophobic America.

About the Director, Mark Jackson (from Press Kit):
Named one of Filmmaker Magazine's “25 New Faces of Independent Film”, Mark Jackson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in literature from the University of California and went on to study cinematography at Rome's Cinecittà Studios.
His first film WITHOUT was called “Stunningly evocative” (Variety) “Truly Mesmerizing” (Time Out London) and “Practically Perfect” (Movie City News) while featuring “The assured hand of a born filmmaker" (Indiewire). His second film WAR STORY was called “Riveting” (Los Angeles Times) “Superbly acted" (The Hollywood Reporter) “Masterfully designed" (Film Threat) “Powerful” (Variety) and "The bravest, most human filmmaking you can get" (Screen Anarchy). She is best known for her debut role in the award-winning Franco-Tunisian feature The Secret of the Grain for which she won the award for most promising actress at the César Awards 2008, and the Marcello Mastroianni award, for best emerging actor or actress at the 64th Venice International Film Festival.
