Transferring to television from their highly successful radio series Meera Syal, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Nina Wadia and Kulvinder Ghir star in a sparky all-Asian sketch show which pokes fun at stereotypes and present a comic perspective on life in the 1990s in the opening series.
Hot on its heels, the second series of this popular all-Asian sketch show returns with many favourite characters and introduces some wacky new parts: Chunky Lafunga - the Bollywood superstar who is in Britain to kick-start his career in the West; Indian Bridegroom Detective, who acts like someone from a 70s cop show; Modern Auntie, a 40-year-old who still sees herself as young; the Melodramatic Family, wailing and tearing their hair at everything that goes wrong; and the Maharaja Gourmet, who cooks up some bizarre delights using endangered species and unusual ingredients - dolphin foreheads, monkey fingers and the buttock of a chimp - guaranteed not to make your mouth water.
In the final season, Goodness Gracious Me continue to tickle the funny bone with its original take on cross-cultural society, lifestyles and attitudes. Recurring characters, catchphrases, spoofs and sketches send up British culture, Asian culture and everything in between. In this series, viewers will see the regular characters and get to meet Channa's Angels, Bollywood's lip-glossed crime-fighters with the big hair; Bhangraman, Asia's all-dancing answer to every Western hero; and the children's favourite, The Delhi Tubbies.
